Helen is the Regional Coordinator for Enviroschools in the Manawatu-Wanganui Region.

Being a part of the Regional Team driving the Enviroschools Programme forward is not only inspiring, but also deeply rewarding. I love seeing our tamariki empowered and passionate about their place in Aotearoa. They are having fun connecting and sharing with each other and working towards creating a more sustainable and beautiful world.

As the Manawatu Enviroschools Facilitator, I get to work in some beautiful parts of Aotearoa. I get to work alongside passionate and inspirational teachers and students who are making huge differences in their schools and communities by embracing the Enviroschools’ kaupapa. It is an exciting and dynamic job, bringing together my passions of environmental science, sustainability and education.

The opportunity to become an early childhood facilitator as well as a lead teacher of Enviroschools within Bulls Kindergarten continues to be an on-going, rewarding experience. Providing children with the opportunities to explore, embrace the environment, culture, and sustainable practices through a holistic yet hands on approach is hugely rewarding and one that sees us all working together as a collective. The process of the journey is unpredictably fun and inspiring with such positive impacts for future generations.

Enviroschools provides myself as a teacher and facilitator with the building blocks for our children to engage within an environment that supports their learning to be kaitiaki and global citizens for our planet at Roslyn Kindergarten.

Being an Enviroschool facilitator is both a privilege and an exciting journey. I am able to work daily  - supporting and empowering tamariki and whānau to create a healthy, peaceful and sustainable environment through teaching and learning together. My touchstone to do this is the Enviroschools kaupapa, and I know that small steps achieve big results.
