...the biggest event in the history of Taranaki Enviroschools!
The booming voice of Taranaki iwi’s Dennis Ngawhare welcomed more than 180 children and adults from Taranaki enviroschools to Pukeiti. Most famous for its rhododendrons, that day Pukeiti was abuzz with the sounds of children exploring the rainforest environment, learning new things and connecting with one another.

During the day, mixed-school groups undertook a series of activities designed to engage both the hearts and minds of the students. They explored the rainforest and potted up native seedlings to take away with them. Students taught each other the Cloak of Protection, a beautiful card game designed to educate about protecting birdlife and raise awareness of their predators. They explored the Māori atua - guardians or personifications of the elements such as the wind, the sun and the forest, to which the Māori trace back their ancestry.
A huge thanks goes out to all our helpers and supporters. Special thanks to Parininihi Ki Waitotara Inc, Stratford District Council, New Plymouth District Council and The Enviroschools Foundation.
