There are some great things happening in Early Childhood Centres in the Wellington Region. You can find out more about Little Earth Montessori's exploration of the Maori korowai / cloak tradition.

Enviroschools in Kindergartens in the Wellington Region

In the Wellington region the Enviroschools team have begun working with the three local Kindergarten Associations to implement the Enviroschools Programme in kindergartens within those associations:

Wellington Kindergartens

Hutt City Kindergartens 

Rimutaka Kindergartens

At this stage each association is working with a small cluster of kindergartens. However, if your kindergarten is interested in linking in with the network, contact the senior teacher responsible for Enviroschools to let them know your interest.

Enviroschools in Independent Early Childhood Centres in the Wellington region

The official Enviroschools network in Wellington includes a number of independent early childhood education centres who we have a historical connection with. We do not have the capacity at this stage to offer the programme to independent early childhood centres outside this group.

However, all early childhood centres have the option to become a "Friend of Enviroschools Wellington". This involves:

  • Purchasing an Enviroschools Handbook and Early Years Guide and working independently using the Enviroschools approaches;
  • Attending teacher cluster meetings where they are operating;
  • Receiving email updates about events and opportunities;
  • The opportunity to attend selected Enviroschools workshops.
